Master class "Ocular surface"
8 February 2019 at the ocular Microsurgery Institute (Instituto de Microcirurgia Ocular, IMO), Barcelona (Spain) held a master class dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the ocular surface, organized by Laboratoires Thea. The meeting was a unique event IMO, because it received the support of important associations such as EUCORNEA (European society of specialists in cornea and ocular surface diseases ) and TFOS ( Tear Film & Ocular Surface Society ).
The focus of the conference is to discuss various aspects of diagnosis and treatment of ocular surface diseases, particularly dry eye syndrome and meibomitis. The meeting was attended by more than 300 ophthalmologists of the leading centers of Europe, the UK, India, Turkey, Ukraine and Russia. Ufa research Institute of eye diseases was presented by Junior scientists of the Department of surgery of the cornea and lens of Zainetdinov A. F. and L. I. Khalimova
The conference was opened by the founder of the Institute of ocular microsurgery and the coordinator of the Department of cornea and refractive surgery Professor H. L. güell. He greeted the audience in the walls of the IMO, highlighted the diversity of interesting presentations on topical issues and also thanked the founder of Thea in the face of the City Sibre for the organization and the fruitful cooperation.
The conference consisted of 3 sections. Firstanalysis of clinical cases with Dr. Morral (Spain), which was accompanied by a concerned discussion of the participants. The second lectures of leading professors, such as Professor Rolando (Switzerland), Professor B (Italy), Wolfson (UK), Grupcev (Bulgaria), etc., and the final section was in the form of workshops demonstrating the use of equipment for evaluation of disorders of the tear film, diagnosis, age, and education work with the devices.
At the meetings there was an exchange of experience on issues dealing with diseases of the eye surface.
