Department of Ophthalmic and Medical Epidemiology
The Department of Ophthalmic and Medical Epidemiology was founded in 2020 under the direction of professor Mukharram Bikbov, MD, PhD, who also holds the position of Director of Ufa Eye Research Institute.
The Department's mission is to provide comprehensive and highly specialized ophthalmic care based on fundamental science and clinical practice.
Our active research group conducts population-based studies, clinical and experimental trials, attends conferences and participates in other scientific events and activities around the globe.
Main research interests:
- study of the prevalence of ophthalmic pathologies in Bashkortostan (Russia);
- identification of risk factors for socially significant eye diseases;
- study of the impact of medications on the development / course of eye conditions.
