Participation in the XV Congress of the European society of vitreoretinal specialists "EURETINA – 2015"
17 - 20 September 2015 in nice (France) took place the XV Congress of the European society of vitreoretinal specialists ("EURETINA – 2015"). The venue was chosen the Congress Centre "Nice Acropolis" is the largest exhibition centre of nice. Traditionally, the Congress was conducted in English.
The Congress was attended by over four thousand experts and researchers in the field of pathology of retina and vitreous from 53 countries. The scientific program of the Congress included 11 main sessions, 20 educational courses, sessions, 19 oral presentations and 20 satellite symposia. Meetings were held simultaneously in 6 halls. The main directions of the Congress:
· Age-related macular degeneration
· Surgery of the anterior and posterior segments of the eye
· Intraocular tumors
· New technologies of treatment of diseases of the retina
· Uveitis
· Diabetic eye damage
· Vitreoretinal surgery
At the opening ceremony, Professor Francesco Bandello, President of EURETINA, said that the annual Congress of vitreoretinal surgeons provides major boost for research and development of vitreoretinal surgery. In the framework of the opening ceremony of the Congress was presented a lecture about the course on vitreoretinal surgery I. Kreissig, which was presented to her awards, including a special attention was paid to the title of honorary Professor Ufrii GB.
Only 5 oral reports from Russia were included into the scientific program. It is important to note that 3 of them were presented to the staff Ufrii GB. In addition, some papers were accepted to participate in the poster session. Thus, Ufrii GB presented 8 reports on the main developments in the field of vitreoretinal surgery:

- FP-7176 - Antivazoproliferative therapy efficacy in patients with age-related macular degeneration in the long-term follow-up period at different levels of localization of choroidal neovascularization (M. M. Bikbov, R. Fayzrakhmanov R.)
- POS-7178 - Angiogenesis blockade effect on development fibrovascular membrane in patients with age-related macular degeneration (M. M. Bikbov, R. Fayzrakhmanov R.)
- POS-7180 - A new technique of surgical treatment of patients with high detachment of retinal pigment epithelium in age-related macular degeneration (M. M. Bikbov, R. Fayzrakhmanov R.)
- POS-7638 - Characteristics of central retina in patients with diabetic macular edema (M. M. Bikbov, T. Gilmanshin R., R. R. Fayzrakhmanov, R. M. Zainullin, M. R.Kalanov).
- Baseline characteristics of patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration from the cohort of Russian patients in the observational LUMINOUS STUDY (M. M. Bikbov).
Oral report fayzrahmanova R.R. "Cytokine profile of aqueous humour of the anterior chamber in patients with age-related macular degeneration" provoked great interest and discussion, which emphasizes the fundamental aspects, presented in the report.
This year at the Congress there were represented practically all of the ophthalmological societies from all continents – Europe, America, Asia and Africa. With this purpose was organized by the World Retina Night, where representatives of each direction could discuss problems of ophthalmology, to define ways of their decision on their part.
Great interest among the participants of the Congress called the video session, which presented a new technique of surgical treatment of pathology of the retina and vitreous. Poster session included more than 70 reports.
In the exhibition participated by 68 companies presented new developments in the treatment of retinal pathology. Deserve special attention in the field of treatment of pathology of the macular area. Company Sylmar (California, USA) manufactures the device in “Second Sight”, which is a prosthetic retina for patients with latestages of pigment retinitis, degenerative eye disease that can lead to blindness. This is the first approved prosthesis for the treatment of this disease in the United States. Based on it created intraretinal chip Argus II. Intraretinal chip provides the formation of the visual image falling on the retina in the pathology of photoreceptor kompanent. Nerve impulses from the photoreceptor layer conducting component is transmitted, and then to the brain, which ensures the formation of the visual image in the Central nervous system. Such an implant provides a substantive vision that a blind person is very valuable.
Company Alcon, Opticon has introduced new equipment for vitreoretinal surgery – vitreoretinal machines, such as Constilation, Revolution, allowing operation with a high frequency of cuts.
