A leading ophthalmic surgeon of Italy will perform a live surgery in the Ufa Eye Research Institute

P_Bordin.jpgOn November 24, 2017 the scientific and practical conference "Modern Technologies for the Treatment of Eye Diseases“ starts in the Ufa Eye Research Institute. This year’s symposium is the final event held by the Institute under the auspices of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

 The highlight of the conference will be a master class given by the invited ophthalmic surgeon Dr. Paolo Bordin from the hospital of Legnago, Province of Verona in Italy. Being one of the leading surgeons in Italy, Dr. Bordin will visit Ufa and the Ufa Eye Research Institute for the first time. He is known all over the world for his ophthalmological school and the means to treat patients with the most diverse pathologies of the eye. Dr. R. Bordin will share his practical and theoretical experience: during the conference there will be an online broadcast of "live surgery" from the operating unit of the Institute where he will demonstrate to ophthalmologists from our republic new technologies for the surgical treatment of patients with diabetic retinopathy. After the operation, the participants of the conference will have the opportunity to discuss with the doctor standards of surgical care in Italy, demonstration operations performed by colleagues from Italy, exchange experience, receive the opinion of a competent colleague and ideas for professional development.

 A comprehensive program for ophthalmologists of the republic was prepared by the team of the Institute together with lecturers from leading Russian clinics: lectures, master classes and satellite symposium. Special attention will be paid to the treatment of diseases of the retina and vitreous, modern aspects of surgical and laser interventions, retinopathy of prematurity and diabetic retinopathy. During the master class, the Institute's staff will provide the opportunity for listeners to participate in the consideration of non-standard cases of operations, comments and explanations of the methods chosen by the surgeon and exchange of opinions. The program of the satellite symposium includes reports on current trends in the treatment of glaucoma, cataracts and infectious eye diseases.
