Corneal diseases can lead to a significant loss of vision, and disability. In recent years the number of patients with this eye pathology has increased significantly. To date, in Russia keratoplasty with using the femtosecond laser was carried out only in a number of eye clinics in Moscow. It is very important that this surgery is possible now in Ufa.
Femtosecond laser-assisted corneal transplantation in contrast to the mechanical manipulation with trephine blade has a number of advantages and benefits, the most important of which is a process automation. Deformation of the cornea after graft acceptance is minimized thanks to the graft which was shaped with the laser by the specified parameters.  Recovery period of the patient after the femtosecond laser-assisted surgery easier and faster than after traditional intervention. Visual rehabilitation period is reduced. The most important point is that a new method of transplantation provides the best results in visual acuity.
The introduction of this technology in Bashkortostan will allow providing ophthalmological care to a great number of patients, including patients with complex disease such as keratoconus.
