Young scientists of UERI won 1 million rubles grant for innovative project.

Ufa Eye Research Institute congratulates the winners of the regional stage of the All-Russian start-up project!

Ufa, on 21-22 April 2015 the All-Russian start-up tour was held. According to organizers it is the most ambitious project in Russia to find promising innovative technologies and solutions. More than 400 people took part in this project including guests from other regions of the country.

From the submitted projects the top 16 were selected for the finals which were divided in 5 sections.

Young scientists of Ufa Eye Research Institute participated in this event presenting innovative designs. 2 projects were submitted in the section of "Biological and medical technologies". Junior researcher of Corneal and Refractive Surgery Department M. Kalanov presented drainage device "DAKRIOSTRIM" for lacrimal surgery which had become a winner. Researcher of the same department M. Astrelin presented "Device for sclera crosslinking" which took the second place. Junior researcher A. Basharov participated with the project "Mobile Medical Apps" in the section "Information Technology".

 "Skolkovo" Foundation awarded M.Kalanov, M. Astrelin and other winners admission to visit the Startup Village - Russia's largest annual conference on startup. It will be held in Moscow on June 2-3, on the territory of the innovation center "Skolkovo".

 Marat Kalanov and 3 winners in other categories were given the right to participate in the competition “Startup Village” without undergoing supplementary expert examination. In addition, Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises in Science and Technology awarded each winner a grant of $ 1 million rubles. Federal Agency for Youth Affairs awarded first prize winners certificates for participation in the finals of the contest "Young Innovator of the Year".

 We wish good luck to the winners of Ufa stage of the All-Russian contest Startup Village and we hope that all of our young scientists and ophthalmologists will pick up the torch and will participate in future competitions presenting their innovations.
